We’re always advancing care and staying active in our community.
Dr. GLENN JOINS ADENA
We’re proud to welcome Dr. Jeffrey C. Glenn to the Adena Bone & Joint Center. A specialist in orthopaedic surgery, he’s helping us advance orthopaedic care, further expanding the services offered to patients in the region.
He completed medical school at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens and his residency at Ohio University/St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. He also completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Glenn said he chose orthopaedic surgery because it provides “the opportunity to make a real and immediate impact on someone’s level of functioning.”
His special area of interest is adult reconstruction/total joint replacement. It is “very rewarding,” he said, to treat arthritis of the major joints with prosthetic replacement and to provide significant improvement and relief to patients.
Dr. Glenn chose to come to the Bone & Joint Center because it was modeled after some of the best orthopaedic institutions in the country and staffed by surgeons with subspecialty training, both of which are beneficial to patients.
NEW ORTHOPAEDIC/SPINE UNIT
Adena Health System’s new and dedicated 20-bed Orthopaedic/Spine Unit is now open on the third floor of the newly constructed Northeast Wing. This state-of-the-art facility provides a new level of orthopaedic care to our region.
“We’re making a great team greater by mobilizing our resources into one area, which will allow us to be more focused on orthopaedic patient care,” said Dr. Brian Cohen, medical director of Adena Bone & Joint Center.
Just as importantly, he added, is the addition of Dr. Jeffrey C. Glenn to the new center. Based on his skills and training, Adena’s new orthopaedic unit will be in an excellent position to draw patients from as far away as Kentucky and central Ohio for total joint replacement surgery, according to Dr. Cohen.
The availability of surgeons who are fellowship-trained in total joint replacement, both in hip and knee replacement, is not something you typically find in a hospital system the size of Adena, the medical director said.
The total joint replacement program also will feature a patient navigator who will work with patients and families before and after surgery, providing education and support.
“The opening of the new Orthopaedic/Spine Unit,” Cohen said, “will allow us to link all our excellent ancillary services to create a common goal for the patient.”
The goal is an activity level for the patient that is the same or better than before their procedure. Having a dedicated unit also will create a common healing environment, he added.
“We have the best physicians, all of whom are fellowship trained in all the major subspecialties of orthopaedics,” Cohen said. “And we have excellent support services in the operating room, on the nursing units and in our physical therapy department.”
Based on a variable acuity model adopted by other hospitals around the nation, patient rooms in the new orthopaedic/spine unit are large, spacious and bright, and are designed so family members and friends can visit comfortably with patients.

Adena on Daytime Columbus
Dr. Jeffrey Lobel was invited to appear on Daytime Columbus to discuss an advanced spinal procedure he’s doing at the Adena Bone and Joint Center. An Extreme Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion (XLIF) procedure is a revolutionary, minimally invasive spinal surgery.
This procedure allows patients to undergo surgery without large incisions and increases the rate at which they can get back to usual activity. While it can be done for a number of back conditions, an XLIF is most commonly performed for patients suffering from Spinal Stenosis.
Watch Dr. Lobel on Daytime Columbus and learn more about this cutting-edge procedure.
Daytime Columbus is dedicated to serving viewers and advertisers by offering a unique way to showcase people, their stories, services and local events. It airs every weekday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on NBC4.
Saturday Morning Injury Clinics
As every student athlete and coach knows, strains, sprains and injuries are part of the game. That’s why Adena Health System sponsored Saturday Morning Injury Clinics from August through October.
The clinics were open to all fall athletes in Adena’s 10-county service area. Student athletes suffering from common injuries of the knee, ankle and wrist as well as concussions came to the Adena Bone and Joint Center for the clinic.
Helping our local student athletes and serving our community.
Clinics were conducted by our sports medicine physicians including, Bradley Strauch, MD, Aaron Roberts, MD, and Anthony Lattavo, DO. One of Adena’s certified athletic trainers was also on site to assist with bracing or rehab instruction. Many athletes who attended then opted to continue follow-up with the healthcare professional that provided their treatment during the clinic.
At the Adena Bone and Joint Center, our expert physicians are helping keep our athletes in the game.
